from both the inside and the front of the upper thigh.

Sometimes after considerable weight loss or through the natural process of skin ageing, the skin on the inner part of the thighs becomes loose and can be wrinkled. It is a difficult problem because no creams or skin treatments will restore the skin elasticity in the area and therefore removing skin excess is the only solution for a significant contour improvement. As with any other surgery there are degrees of the problems to be corrected and with that there are degrees of the amount of skin to be removed and associated scars will be more or less extensive.
Thigh Reduction removes excess skin and fat from both the inside and the front of the upper thigh. The surgery leaves a scar that begins in the groin, traverses the inner thigh, and runs under the crease of the buttock. Sometimes a vertical scar on the inside of the thigh is also necessary to remove the skin excess and contour the appearance adequately. Postoperative scars are always more visible on the body than on the face. However scars placed in the groin only can be relatively well hidden under an average swimsuit and the operation would be able to improve otherwise be seen unsightly skin excess.
You will need to the scars with your surgeon the amount of correction that you think is appropriate for you as well as the amount of scarring that you would accept at the outcome.

The operation is usually done under general anaesthetic either as a day case or overnight stay procedure. The surgeon will perform frequently liposuction to the inner part of the thigh both to reduce the volume and help mobilise the skin.
Then through the incision in the groin crease or the groin crease and inner thigh the upper part of the skin is undermined and the excess trimmed away. Suspension sutures are used to hold the skin back in the groin area and the wounds are closed either with or without drains. Dressings are used to cover the incision lines and compression garment may be applied on top.

Wound care after thigh lift is quite important to reduce the likelihood of infection. Although oral antibiotics are prescribed it is important to use an antiseptic wash to the wound area whenever you go to the toilet. After this a light dressing can be reapplied to the wound held by the compression garment or supporting hose.
Exercise will have to be avoided for the first month after the surgery, in order to avoid irritating the wounds in the groin crease. For office-based workers it is possible to return to activity within approximately one week.
Although the operation is not associated with significant amount of pain, it is recommended that painkillers should be used regularly during the first week. This allows for a more comfortable return to gentle activity as well as wound care.
Four to 5 postoperative office visits are required. Normal activities, including exercise, may be resumed gradually after one month.
